भारतीय वायुसेना दिवस हर साल 5 अक्तूबर को मनाया जाता है। इस साल 5 अक्तूबर 2020 को 88वां वायुसेना दिवस गाजियाबाद के हिंडोन एयरफ़ोर्स बेस पर मनाया जाएगा।

कैसे मनाया जाता है
यह दिन तीनों सेनाओं के प्रमुखों की मौजूदगी में लड़ाकू जहाजों के प्रदर्शन औऱ वार्षिक परेड से मनाया जाता है। इस साल की परेड में राफेल विमान भी हिस्सा लेंगे, जो फ्रांस से खरीदे गए थे।
राफेल एक 4.5 पीढ़ी का विमान है, जो कई तरह के हथियार प्रयोग करने में सक्षम है। पांच राफेल लड़ाकू जेट विमानों को औपचारिक रूप से 10 सितंबर को भारतीय वायुसेना में शामिल किया गया था, जब देश पूर्वी लद्दाख में चीन के साथ तनावपूर्ण सीमा गतिरोध में लगा हुआ है।
फ्रांसीसी एयरोस्पेस प्रमुख डसॉल्ट एविएशन द्वारा निर्मित मल्टी-रोल राफेल जेट, हवाई श्रेष्ठता और सटीक हमलों के लिए जाना जाता है।

दुनिया में भारतीय वायुसेना को ताकत के हिसाब से चौथे नम्बर पर रखा गया है।

भारतीय वायुसेना का इतिहास
IAF की स्थापना 8 अक्तूबर 1932 को ब्रिटिश सेना की सहायक सेना के रूप में कई गयी थी। इसका प्रारम्भिक नाम Royal Indian Air Force था। 1950 में भारतीय संविधान निर्माण के बाद Royal शब्द हटा दिया गया था।
भरतीय वायुसेना का मुख्य लक्ष्य भारत के एयरस्पेस की रक्षा करना है। भारतीय वायुसेना दुनिया की चौथी बड़ी वायुसेना है, इसमें 1,750 एयरक्राफ्ट, 139,576 एक्टिव सैनिक और 140,000 आरक्षित सैनिक काम करते हैं।
भारतीय वायुसेना ने बड़े बड़े युद्ध स्तर के कामों को अंजाम दिया है। जैसे:
- भारत पाकिस्तान युद्ध 1947
- भारत चीन युद्ध 1962
- भारत पाकिस्तान युद्ध 1965
- बांग्लादेश की आजादी का युद्ध
